Pope Francis is "still alive” as he was seen departing from the Gemelli hospital last Saturday.
Previously, the Pontiff was hospitalized due to a respiratory infection. When asked about the illness that brought the pope to the hospital, he answered that he felt uneasy but was not afraid when he felt ill and needed aid after Wednesday’s general audience at Saint Peter’s Square.
While the pope was in the hospital, he still kept praying and baptized a boy in the children’s cancer ward, a journalist noted.
According to the Holy See in a statement, the pontiff has bid his goodbye to all the medical staff who took care of him and the staff and chiefs of the department, the Rector of the Catholic University attached to the Gemelli hospital Franco Anelli and the general director, Marco Elefanti.
Pope Francis will celebrate the Palm Sunday Mass at Saint Peter’s Square.
